Latest Interior Design Project: Co Tyrone Farmhouse

Beaufort Interiors had the opportunity of reinvigorating rooms within this delightful Dungannon Farm house which had been renovated throughout for family life, welcoming and entertaining.

Every inch of this home has been maintained meticulously and when the time came to refurbish the family living room the owners called upon the advice and service of the Beaufort design team; the team and client instantly connected over a mutual appreciation for design aesthetics.

The family room is the heart of the home; the through way to the sun room and large kitchen.  It included living and dining space which would be utilised by generations of the family and therefore had to be practical, comfortable and in keeping with the adjoining rooms.

The clients wanted a renewed look with minimal disruption, we pulled inspiration from the farm house tiles, with soft tones in grey blue and terracotta, we introduced subtle creams, golds and shades of duck egg blue to lighten and brighten the visual space whilst complementing the floor. On the walls we used a tone on tone damask creating a fresh but traditional backdrop to the room.  On the windows we added a double pole system which allowed for both front dress curtains, held elegantly back with co-ordinating tiebacks, and a practical pull curtain to the rear.  This added stature and drama to these beautiful high windows, allowing them to hold their own against the antique cabinetry.

The home owners had a keen eye for beautiful antiques, each with a story, all of which brought character and life to this property.  These items had become an integral part of the home which we intended to preserve artistically.

After walking around the home, we could see key pieces which we could incorporate into the design, we took these items back to our in-house work rooms, chose new elegant upholstery fabrics and trims to bring these charming pieces of furniture back to life, restoring them to their former glory.

We later returned to address the entrance hall, stairs and landing, we brought the wall coverings up to date with a metallic flocked wallpaper from the Texam collection which offered complementing tonal designs for the hallways and feature walls. The metallic golds added ambience and brightened hallways with pattern in textured flock adding luxury.  Custom carpets were designed to lead from the entrance staircase through the hallways of the upper floors, designed in rich reds, golds & greens with carved borders and central motif emphasising the plush wool pile.

Next, we were invited to treat the guest room to an up-date, it was a corner room with beautiful garden views.  We introduced a sumptuous silk textured wall treatment with an elegant design. To complement we selected a rich Zoffany velvet for our iconic Beaufort Bishop Sleeve full curtains with graceful folds and hand pleated heading, finished with Houles trimmings and tiebacks.  Custom upholstery and bedding were carefully chosen & fashioned to complete this timeless luxurious retreat.

We have been welcomed back for many a visit to this home, looking at various new areas which needed a little design touch. On every occasion we are met with a sense of ease and tranquillity, from the tick of the grandfather clock to the subtle colour scheme in the family room, the high-backed comforting sofas, deep buttoned foot rests and plush cushions, all of which beckon you to relax and stay a while.

As all of this property had been renovated to a high traditional standard our designs were chosen in keeping with the rest of the home, we selected furnishings and finishes which would refresh but blend smoothly into the current décor.
